What Rwanda did to establish human rights for past 31 years

Rwanda has made significant strides in establishing legal and institutional frameworks for human rights since the 1994 Genocide againt the Tutsi's, with a strong focus on economic, social, and cultural rights.

However, challenges remain, particularly regarding freedom of expression, association, and political participation. 

County’s Constitution, along with national laws, provides for the protection of human rights, including those enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). 

The NCHR is a constitutional body with a broad mandate to promote and protect human rights, including monitoring compliance with international human rights treaties. 

Rwanda has adopted laws and policies to protect various human rights, including women's rights, children's rights, and the rights of vulnerable groups. 

Theye has made progress in areas like women's rights, children's rights, and the rights of people with HIV/AIDS. 

Despite progress, challenges remain in the areas of freedom of expression, association, and political participation. 

While country has taken steps to reform media laws, concerns persist about media freedom and the space for public debate. 

Some observers have raised concerns about restrictions on political participation and the space for opposition parties. 

Rwanda is progressive in not criminalizing same-sex relations, but LGBT individuals still face stigma. 

There have been reports of instances where detention procedures and treatment of detainees have not fully adhered to legal requirements.
