“We're ready for African Cycling Excellence Awards 2025”, says Freddy Kamuzinzi
The African Cycling Excellence Awards (ACEA) 2025 have been officially launched by Kamz Events Group Ltd, marking a major step in recognizing and promoting cycling talent across Africa.
Speaking at a press conference, Freddy Kamuzinzi, Managing Director of Kamz Events Group Ltd and ACEA Organizer, said the awards aim to celebrate the achievements of athletes, teams, and organizations that have advanced the sport on the continent.
He announced that the initiative, created by Kamz Events Group Ltd, has received full endorsement and appropriation from the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC).
Kamz Events has also been officially mandated by CAC to organize ACEA for the next four years, reflecting confidence in the company’s capacity and leadership.
The first two editions, 2025 and 2026, will be hosted in Rwanda, a country widely regarded as a leader in African cycling development.
Public voting for ACEA 2025 ran from October 31 to November 8, drawing thousands of votes from fans and cycling enthusiasts across the continent.
The award categories for 2025 include:
Men & Women Elite, Amateur, Men & Women Elite Rwanda, Best Team and Honorary Men & Women Elite EAC (East African Community)
Kamuzinzi expressed gratitude to ACEA’s partners, including Forzza, Amstel, INGUFU GIN, Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA), and Delight Hotel.
“These partners have played a key role in making ACEA a true celebration of excellence,” he said.
He emphasized that the awards are not just about recognition but about inspiring future champions, building communities, and promoting cycling as a tool for social change.
“Let us celebrate, connect, and continue to push the boundaries of what African cycling can achieve. The journey is just beginning,” Kamuzinzi concluded.
The choice of Kigali to host the ACEA was no coincidence. Rwanda has steadily built a strong cycling culture and infrastructure, positioning itself as a continental hub for the sport.
Most notably, Kigali’s gearing up to host the 2025 UCI Road World Championships — the first time this global event will take place on the African continent.
This momentum and international exposure make Rwanda an appropriate stage for the African Cycling Excellence Awards.
For Rwanda, the awards are more than a single event: they form part of a broader strategy to deepen sport tourism, support the development of cycling and sport infrastructure, and raise the country’s global profile.
The awards will bring athletes, officials, stakeholders and fans to Kigali — a boost for local hospitality, tourism and business.
Organisers say the trophy event will succeed not just through the ceremony but by forging lasting partnerships and providing a platform for African cycling to flourish.
The ACEA provide a dedicated continental forum for celebrating cycling — an area in which Africa has steadily grown strength, both in terms of athlete performance and organisational capability.
By recognising achievements and shining a spotlight on talent, the awards help amplify the profile of the sport across Africa.
For athletes, the awards offer recognition and motivation. For federations and teams, they offer exposure, inspiration and networking. And for fans, they help build momentum, create storylines and reinforce cycling’s role in African sport.
