The Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament 2026 action is underway this Monday, 15 June 2026, at Gahanga International Stadium.
Hosts Rwanda strengthened their position after registering two impressive victories, defeating Zimbabwe High Performance Centre (HPC) and Malawi to continue their excellent run in the competition.
As the tournament enters its decisive stages, Rwanda topped the standings with 10 points from six matches and a net run rate of 1.806, putting themselves in a strong position to claim the title.
Rwanda began the day with a convincing 33-run victory over Zimbabwe HPC after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
The home side posted a competitive total of 131/6 from their allotted 20 overs, with the batting unit once again providing a solid platform.
Rwanda’s bowlers then delivered a disciplined performance to restrict Zimbabwe HPC and secure another important win in front of their home supporters.
Later in the day, they produced an even more dominant display against Malawi.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the hosts amassed an impressive 155/5 in their 20 overs, their highest total of the tournament so far.
The highlight of the innings was a magnificent opening partnership between Gisele Ishimwe and Fanny Utagushimaninde, who combined for a remarkable 122-run stand.
Their partnership laid the foundation for Rwanda’s commanding total and showcased the growing strength of the country's women's cricket program.
With momentum firmly on their side, Rwanda’s bowlers backed up the batting effort by restricting Malawi well below the target, sealing a comprehensive 68-run victory and further enhancing their net run rate.
Elsewhere on Matchday 5, Brazil recorded a convincing seven-wicket win over Nigeria.
Nigeria had earlier posted 117/5 from their 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
However, Brazil’s batters chased down the target comfortably to claim a valuable victory that keeps their hopes alive in the tournament.
Following the latest round of fixtures, Rwanda lead the standings with 10 points, followed by Zimbabwe HPC in second place with eight points.
Nigeria remain third on six points, with Brazil also on six points but behind on net run rate, while Malawi are yet to register a point after six matches.
