APR BBC crowned four-time consecutive champions (Photos)

APR BBC secured their fourth consecutive Rwanda Basketball League title after defeating Patriots BBC 114-76 in Game Four of the playoff final on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The Army side completed a dominant championship campaign with another commanding performance, sealing the best-of-four playoff series against Patriots and retaining the trophy for a fourth straight season.

APR were also rewarded with a prize of Rwf15 million.

The final game initially appeared evenly contested, with both teams trading baskets during the opening stages.

However, APR gradually established control as the game progressed, with Craig Randall and Adonis Filer playing key roles in creating a growing advantage.

APR entered half-time with a 56-43 lead, having opened up a 13-point gap by the interval.

Patriots struggled to match APR’s intensity after the break.

The defending champions continued to extend their advantage through the third quarter, while Patriots found it increasingly difficult to contain APR’s offensive production.

With the result increasingly beyond doubt, APR were able to rotate their squad and give valuable playing time to players who had featured less frequently during the playoffs.

Despite the changes, the champions maintained their authority and continued to add to their lead.

The final quarter became a procession as APR pulled further away before reaching the 114-point mark.

Patriots finished on 76, leaving APR to celebrate another league championship.

The title adds to APR BBC’s recent dominance of Rwandan basketball.

Their fourth consecutive championship underlines their consistency at domestic level and further establishes the club as the team to beat in the country.

REG BBC claimed the bronze medal after defeating RSSB Tigers 2-1 in the third-place playoff series.

Individual awards were also announced at the conclusion of the season.

Patriots coach Niyomugabo Munyandamutsa, popularly known as Sunny, was named Coach of the Year after guiding his team to the championship final.

Kwizera Sage Hubert received the Most Improved Player award, while Patriots’ Garba Chingka Kennedy was named Best Defensive Player.

REG BBC’s Eliott Cole finished as the league’s leading three-point scorer, making 63 three-pointers during the season.

Patriots forward Damaria Franklin was the leading scorer in the championship, finishing with 504 points.

Garba Chingka Kennedy was also recognised as the Most Valuable Player of the regular season for his performances throughout the league campaign.

APR’s Craig Randall claimed the Playoffs MVP award after another influential postseason.

Randall’s individual recognition capped an outstanding year in which he also played a major role in APR’s Basketball Africa League campaign and was named BAL 2026 MVP.
