Dusenge Wicklif completes APR VC return on two-year deal

Rwanda international volleyball player Dusenge Wicklif has completed his return to APR Volleyball Club after signing a two-year contract, with the move expected to strengthen the club’s ambitions in domestic and continental competitions.

The experienced attacker, regarded as one of Rwanda’s most accomplished volleyball players, returns to the club after a career that has combined success in the local league with valuable experience abroad.

Dusenge, who plays primarily as an opposite hitter, has been a consistent performer for both club and country, earning recognition for his attacking ability, power at the net and leadership on the court.

His return comes on the military-backed side continues to build a competitive squad ahead of the new season, with the club targeting success in the Rwanda Volleyball League and regional tournaments.

The 27 years old, previously represented APR VC on his first spell after completing high school in 2018, before moving on to other top Rwandan clubs, including Gisagara Volleyball Club, REG Volleyball Club and Kepler Volleyball Club.

He has also gained international experience, having played professional volleyball outside Rwanda, by joined Egypt’s Tala’ea El Gaish Volleyball Club before moving to Qatar, where he featured for Al-Wakrah Sport Club.

Those international spells exposed him to a higher level of competition and helped him develop into a more complete player.

At national team level, Dusenge has been a key figure for Rwanda’s men’s volleyball team and has played an important role in the country’s international campaigns.

After previously captaining Rwanda’s U-21 team and showcasing his leadership qualities from an early stage of his career, he is currently part of Rwanda’s national team camp ahead of the upcoming African Nations Championship.
