Volleyball: Rwanda to host Men's African Club Championship
The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) has announced that the upcoming tournament for the continent’s top men’s teams (CAVB Men’s Club Championship) will be held in Rwanda in 2026.
The annual competition, now in its 47th edition, brings together the best club teams in Africa, with additional strong teams joining from various countries.
A statement released by CAVB and the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) confirmed that Kigali will host the 2026 championship.
The previous edition in 2025 took place in Misurata, Libya, and was won by Swehly Sports Club of Libya, while Rwanda’s APR VC finished fourth.
The host nation is represented by four teams based on last year’s rankings, meaning Rwanda will be represented by APR, Police, REG, and Kepler VC.
In 2022, Gisagara VC made history by becoming the first Rwandan team to win a medal in the tournament, finishing third after defeating Port de Douala 3-1 in Kelibia, Tunisia.
