Rwanda unveils plans for new 20,000-Seat Stadium in partnership with FIFA

The President of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), Shema Ngoga Fabrice, has revealed plans for the construction of a new 20,000-seat stadium to be developed in collaboration with FIFA.

According to Shema Ngoga, the project is currently at an early stage, and more details will be communicated as planning progresses.

The announcement comes shortly after a recent visit to Rwanda by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who was in the country at the invitation of His Excellency President Paul Kagame for the FIFA Football Festival.

During his visit, Mr. Infantino attended a Rwanda Premier League matchday fixture between Gasogi United and AS Kigali at the Kigali Pelé Stadium. The match ended in a 1–1 draw.

Accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Hon. Nelly Mukazayire, and FERWAFA President Shema Ngoga Fabrice, the FIFA President greeted both teams ahead of kickoff.

He wished the players a good match and emphasized the importance of fair play and sportsmanship.

The proposed stadium project is expected to further strengthen Rwanda’s football infrastructure and reflects the growing collaboration between FERWAFA and FIFA in developing the game across the country.

Meanwhile, Rwanda has stadiums especially used for football and major events.

Those are; Amahoro National Stadium (Kigali) with ~45.000 seats, Kigali Pelé Stadium (Nyamirambo, Kigali) ~22.000 and Huye Stadium (Southern Province) with ~22,000.
