Real Madrid hold crisis meeting after Valverde-Tchouameni training ground fight
Real Madrid are facing growing tension both on and off the pitch after reports of a heated dressing-room crisis involving Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, while fan frustration toward Kylian Mbappe continues to rise dramatically.
The situation comes at a difficult moment for the Spanish giants as they prepare for a crucial El Clasico against Barcelona, who sit 11 points clear at the top of LaLiga and need just one point to secure the league title.
According to reports from Spain, Real Madrid executives and players held an emergency meeting at the club’s Valdebebas training ground following two separate confrontations between Valverde and Tchouameni.
The pair reportedly clashed physically after training on Wednesday before tensions exploded again during Thursday’s session.
The altercation became serious enough for Valverde to be taken to hospital with a suspected head injury.
Fortunately for the Uruguayan midfielder, medical examinations showed no major damage and he was later discharged before returning to the training complex.
Club president Florentino Perez and senior officials are now investigating the incidents, with disciplinary measures expected against those involved.
The reported fights have raised concerns about the atmosphere inside the squad at a time when Real Madrid are under immense pressure after a disappointing campaign.
The crisis has only intensified because of the growing backlash against superstar forward Kylian Mbappe.
An online petition calling for Real Madrid to sell the French striker has reportedly surpassed 30 million signatures, highlighting the anger among sections of supporters despite Mbappe’s individual goal-scoring numbers.
Fans became furious after Mbappe traveled by private jet to Sardinia for a short holiday with actress Ester Exposito while recovering from a hamstring injury.
Although the player’s representatives insist he had permission from the club and continued following his rehabilitation program, many supporters viewed the trip as poorly timed given the team’s struggles this season.
Real Madrid are on course to finish the campaign without a major trophy, increasing criticism toward several players and the overall balance of the squad.
Some supporters believe Mbappe and Vinicius Junior cannot effectively coexist in the same attacking system, arguing that the team lacks defensive intensity and tactical balance when both are on the field together.
Comparisons with Paris Saint-Germain have further fueled frustration in Madrid.
Since Mbappe left PSG on a free transfer two years ago, the French club have won their first-ever UEFA Champions League title and recently reached another final under coach Luis Enrique.
Many observers believe PSG became a more cohesive team after Mbappe’s departure because of Enrique’s emphasis on collective pressing and defensive work-rate.
With tensions rising inside the dressing room and pressure mounting from supporters, Sunday’s Clasico against Barcelona could become one of the defining moments of Real Madrid’s troubled season.
