Man Utd news: Dorgu sidelined 10-Week layoff, Chelsea dismiss Cole Palmer links

Manchester United have been dealt an injury setback after Dorgu was ruled out for around 10 weeks due to a hamstring problem sustained during their Premier League clash with Arsenal.

The midfielder had enjoyed a memorable moment in the match at the Emirates, scoring a stunning long-range goal to put United ahead.

However, his night ended early when he was forced off in the 81st minute and replaced by Benjamin Šeško.

According to reports from The Athletic and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, scans later confirmed a hamstring injury, with Dorgu expected to miss approximately eight matches.

His recovery timeline suggests a potential return around March, following the international break. United’s first fixture after the national team schedule is a home clash against Leeds United on April 11.

Dorgu has been a key contributor for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, making 22 Premier League appearances and registering three goals and three assists.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have firmly shut down speculation linking Cole Palmer with a move to Manchester United, insisting the England international is “untouchable.”

Recent reports suggested Palmer was unsettled in London and open to a return to the north west, but Chelsea sources maintain the 23-year-old is happy at Stamford Bridge and remains central to the club’s long-term plans.

Palmer is under contract until 2033, further strengthening Chelsea’s position.

Palmer’s current campaign has been disrupted by a series of injuries, including issues with his groin, toe and most recently his thigh, which forced him to miss Chelsea’s weekend win over Crystal Palace.

However, he returned to training on Tuesday ahead of the Blues’ Champions League fixture against Napoli.

While his output has dipped this season—scoring four goals in 12 Premier League appearances without registering an assist—Palmer was prolific last term, netting 15 goals and providing 11 assists across all competitions.

Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in a £40 million deal in 2023, Palmer has amassed 41 goals and 20 assists in 81 league appearances, underlining why the club views him as a cornerstone of their future despite growing transfer speculation.
