Jojea Kwizera extends contract with Rhode Island FC
Rwandan international midfielder Jojea Kwizera has extended his stay with USL Championship side Rhode Island FC for an additional season.
The club announced the contract extension on December 3, 2025, confirming that Kwizera will remain with the team through the 2026 season.
Kwizera, 25, has been a key figure for Rhode Island FC since its inaugural campaign.
Over the club’s first two seasons, he has made 64 appearances across all competitions, ranking seventh in club history for total appearances and sixth in minutes played.
During his time with the team, the dynamic midfielder has recorded five goals and eight assists, placing him third all-time in assists for the club.
Last season, he netted two decisive game-winning goals, further proving his value in critical moments.
Rhode Island FC’s head coach and general manager, Khano Smith, expressed strong confidence in Kwizera’s continued impact.
Smith praised the midfielder’s pace, creativity, and attacking influence—qualities that have been integral to the team’s identity since its formation.
The extension reflects Rhode Island FC’s commitment to maintaining stability in its core group as the club looks to strengthen its competitiveness in the USL Championship in the upcoming seasons.
