Christian Ishimwe returns to APR FC on two-year deal

Rwandan champions APR FC have officially announced the return of experienced left-back Christian Ishimwe, bringing back one of the country’s most reliable defenders after two seasons with Police FC.

The announcement was made on June 17, 2026, through the club’s official social media channels.

Although APR FC did not disclose the details of the contract, reports indicate that the defender has signed a two-year deal as the military side continues preparations for domestic and continental competitions.

Ishimwe’s return marks a homecoming for a player who previously represented APR FC between 2022 and 2024 before leaving upon the expiration of his contract.

During his first spell with the club, he established himself as one of the most consistent left-backs in the Rwanda Premier League, contributing both defensively and offensively.

Born in Rwanda on 02th Jan 1999, Christian Ishimwe has steadily built a reputation as one of the country’s finest defenders.

His professional journey began with Marine FC, where he gained valuable experience and attracted attention through his strong performances.

He later joined AS Kigali, where he further developed into a dependable full-back capable of performing at the highest level of domestic football.

His impressive displays earned him a move to APR FC, Rwanda’s most successful football club.

During his first stint with the Army Side, Ishimwe played an important role in the team’s domestic success, helping APR FC challenge for major honours and maintain one of the league’s strongest defensive records.

After leaving APR in 2024, he joined Police FC, where he spent two seasons.

His return could also signal changes within APR FC’s defensive department, with reports suggesting that defender Claude Niyomugabo may be set to leave the club following unresolved discussions regarding his future.
