APR FC bowed out from CAF Champions League preliminary round
Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Pyramids FC of Egypt in the second leg of the preliminary round.
The loss, which came on the heels of a 2-0 defeat in the first leg in Kigali, sees Pyramids FC advance to the next round with a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
APR’s struggles against Pyramids continue as their latest defeat extends their winless run against Pyramids FC in CAF competitions.
Since their first encounter in 2023, the two clubs have faced off six times, with the Egyptian side winning four and drawing two.
Pyramids FC have now gone five matches unbeaten against APR FC [4 wins, 2 draws] and are enjoying a strong run of form, having won their last six matches across all competitions.
The Egyptian outfit once again demonstrated their quality, teamwork, and consistency on the continental stage.
Their convincing 3-0 win highlights their ambitions to progress further in the CAF Champions League.
For APR FC, the result is a disappointment, as the Rwandan champions continue to seek a breakthrough in continental competitions.
