Amavubi's goalie 'Fiacre Ntwari' undergoes successful shoulder surgery
Kaizer Chiefs and Rwanda national team goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari has successfully undergone surgery on his shoulder and is expected to be sidelined for around two months.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper, who joined Chiefs at the start of last season, has been among the standout goalkeepers in South African football in recent years.
Before his move to Naturena, Ntwari impressed at TS Galaxy, where he made 32 appearances across all competitions, conceding 29 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets during a remarkable campaign.
Although he has struggled for regular game time at Kaizer Chiefs compared to his spell at Galaxy, Ntwari remains highly rated for his composure and consistency between the sticks.
According to sources close to the club, the Rwandan international had been managing the injury for several weeks before the decision was made to undergo surgery.
“He got the injury a while ago and has been playing with it. It became necessary to sort it out properly, so he’s now focusing on recovery,” a source revealed.
With Ntwari out, Chiefs are expected to rely on Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma, and other available goalkeeping options as they navigate a critical stage of their campaign.
Ntwari’s recovery is being closely monitored by both the Kaizer Chiefs medical team and the Rwandan Football Federation, as he remains an integral part of Rwanda’s national team setup, where he serves as the first-choice goalkeeper.
