Amavubi's Coach “Adel Amrouche” alleges salary delay of 2 Months

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has confirmed that the head coach of the national team “Amavubi”, Adel Amrouche, has not been paid for some time, but the issue is expected to be resolved this week.

Amrouche, who was appointed in March this year, has not received his salary for the months of August and September, and now October is also nearing its end.

FERWAFA’s Acting Secretary General, Mugisha Richard, told IGIHE that the issue is in the process of being resolved and that Amrouche has been informed of the reason for the delay.

“The issue will be resolved this week, and the coach has been kept informed at every step of the process. It’s not that the money is unavailable or has been denied; there were just some procedures to follow. He knows the payment is coming.” He added

Sources told that the delay in paying the coach is linked to recent leadership changes within FERWAFA.

Since the end of August, a new Executive Committee and Acting Secretary General have taken office, and it’s during this transition that a request for the coach's salary was submitted to the Ministry of Sports.

Regarding whether Amrouche could be dismissed—based on his poor performance, having won only one out of eight matches since taking over in March—Mugisha Richard clarified that “There has been no discussion about terminating his contract, as all decisions are based on the terms of his agreement.”
