Saka agrees new five-year deal to become Arsenal's highest-paid
Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal F.C., committing his future to the club until 2031 in a deal that underlines his status as the cornerstone of the team’s long-term project.
Sources indicate the agreement makes the England international the highest-paid player at the club, with wages reported to exceed £300,000 per week.
Negotiations over a renewal have been ongoing for close to a year, with Saka verbally agreeing to extend his stay in January.
Although his previous contract, signed in 2023, was not due to expire until 2027, the new deal ensures the 24-year-old will spend what are widely regarded as the peak years of his career in north London.
For Arsenal, securing Saka’s future represents both a sporting and symbolic victory.
The timing of the announcement provides a significant lift for the Gunners as they compete on four fronts in pursuit of their first major trophy since 2020.
Under manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal currently sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
They are also preparing to face Manchester City F.C. in the EFL Cup final in March, while progressing to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League and the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Saka’s renewal follows a broader strategy by Arsenal to secure key members of their squad on long-term contracts.
Over the summer, players including William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly also committed their futures to the club.
The approach reflects Arsenal’s determination to maintain stability and continuity as they challenge for domestic and European honours.
On the pitch, Saka remains indispensable. With seven goals in 33 appearances this season, he continues to be central to Arsenal’s attacking threat, particularly down the right flank where much of the team’s play is channelled.
Beyond statistics, his influence extends to leadership, creativity and a deep connection with supporters, having risen through the club’s academy system.
The new deal is arguably as important as any transfer signing. While Arsenal invested heavily in strengthening the squad last summer, retaining Saka ensures they keep a player whose development still promises further growth.
His presence provides consistency and belief at a crucial stage of the campaign.
Looking ahead, Saka faces a pivotal second half of the season, aiming to help Arsenal secure silverware.
He will also turn his focus to international duty, with Thomas Tuchel leading England into a World Cup summer, where Saka is expected to play a key role on football’s biggest stage.
