Fritz Emeran leads Amavubi’s 24-man squad for Tanzania, Comoros friendlies

The Rwanda Football Federation, FERWAFA, has unveiled a 24-man Rwanda national football team squad for upcoming international friendly matches against Comoros national football team and Tanzania national football team scheduled for June in Marrakech, Morocco.

Head coach Stephen Constantine selected a balanced squad blending experienced internationals with emerging talents as Amavubi continue preparations for future continental assignments, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and upcoming Africa Cup of Nations campaigns.

Rwanda will first take on Comoros on June 6 before facing regional rivals Tanzania on June 9 in two high-level test matches expected to provide valuable tactical assessments and squad evaluation opportunities for the technical staff.

One of the major talking points from the squad announcement is the inclusion of two new faces receiving their first-ever senior national team call-ups.

Among them is highly rated midfielder Noam Fritz Emeran, who currently plays for Dutch side FC Groningen.

The 23-year-old winger and attacking midfielder was developed in the youth academies of Amiens and Manchester United FC before joining Groningen in 2023.

Born in France but eligible to represent Rwanda, Emeran is widely regarded as a technically gifted player capable of operating on both wings thanks to his pace, dribbling ability, and creativity in one-on-one situations.

The second debutant is forward Fidali Uwiyaremye, who earned recognition after an impressive domestic campaign with Kiyovu Sports, scoring 11 goals during the season.

His form in front of goal convinced Constantine to reward him with a first senior national team opportunity.

The squad also features several experienced players drawn from Rwanda’s top clubs, including APR FC, Rayon Sports FC, and Police FC, alongside foreign-based professionals competing across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Goalkeepers named in the squad are Niyongira Patience, Hakizimana Adolphe, and Kwizera Olivier.

The defensive department includes experienced names such as Ange Mutsinzi, Clement Niyigena, and Emmanuel Imanishimwe, while midfield responsibilities will largely fall on Johan Marvin Kury, Bonheur Mugisha, Samuel Gueulette, and captain Kevin Muhire.

In attack, Rwanda will rely on the experience of Innocent Nshuti, Rene Uwineza, Abeddy Biramahire, and the newly invited Uwiyaremye.

Historically, Rwanda and Tanzania have faced each other numerous times in regional competitions, CECAFA tournaments, AFCON qualifiers, and international friendlies, producing a tightly contested East African rivalry over the years.

Tanzania have often held a slight advantage in recent encounters, though Amavubi have also recorded important victories against Taifa Stars in competitive fixtures.

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s upcoming match against Comoros will mark a relatively rare meeting between the two nations, with both sides seeking to strengthen their squads ahead of future continental competitions.

The two friendlies are expected to help Stephen Constantine assess tactical, improve team chemistry, and integrate new players toward a more competitive future on the African football stage.
