Premier League: Eze, Gyokores inspires Arsenal to Five-Point lead in North London Derby

Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres once again proved to be Tottenham Hotspur’s tormentor as Arsenal reasserted their authority at the top of the Premier League with a commanding north London derby victory.

The win restored Arsenal’s five-point lead and underlined their title credentials after a week of mounting pressure.

The Gunners had squandered a two-goal advantage in a frustrating midweek draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Manchester City narrowed the gap with victory over Newcastle United.

There was added intrigue at Tottenham, with interim manager Igor Tudor taking charge for the first time and hoping to ignite a resurgence.

Instead, Arsenal’s superior quality and attacking thrust overwhelmed their rivals.

Eze, who netted a hat-trick in November’s 4-1 derby triumph, was central once more.

The midfielder had been close to joining Spurs before Arsenal secured a £60 million move from Crystal Palace in August, and he haunted them again here.

He opened the scoring after 32 minutes, reacting quickest inside the penalty area to convert from close range.

Tottenham responded almost immediately. Randal Kolo Muani produced a superb solo effort just two minutes later, weaving through defenders before finishing confidently to level the contest.

However, Arsenal regained control shortly after the interval. Viktor Gyokeres, who has faced criticism in recent weeks, silenced doubters with a clinical 20-yard strike to restore the visitors’ advantage.

Unlike their capitulation at Wolves, Arsenal refused to retreat. Mikel Arteta’s side maintained their intensity and pressing, determined not to repeat past mistakes.

Their persistence paid off just after the hour mark when Eze capitalized on a loose ball in the area, sweeping home his second of the afternoon to make it 3-1.

Spurs struggled to respond, lacking cohesion and composure despite flashes of promise. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was repeatedly tested as Arsenal dictated proceedings.

In stoppage time, Gyokeres capped a dominant display by muscling past Archie Gray and slotting home his second goal, sealing an emphatic victory.

The result not only secured local bragging rights but also sent a powerful message to City and the rest of the league.

Arsenal demonstrated resilience, firepower, and maturity under pressure — qualities essential in a title race.

For Tottenham, the defeat highlighted the scale of the rebuilding task ahead under Tudor. For Arsenal, it was another bold stride toward Premier League glory.
