APR FC dropped their first points of the 2026/27 BK Pro League campaign after being held to a 1-1 draw by Gasogi United in an entertaining Matchday Eight encounter at Kigali Pelé Stadium.

Gasogi United took the lead through their captain, Ngono Guy Herve, before APR FC responded in the second half through Hakim Kiwanuka to rescue a point for the military side.

The result marked APR FC’s first draw of the current league campaign, while Gasogi United registered their fourth stalemate of the season.

APR FC head coach Abderrahim Taleb made several selections in his starting XI, with Adolphe Hakizimana in goal, supported by a defensive line featuring Cheick Quattara Djibril, Christian Ishimwe, Jean Gilbert Byiringiro and Zon Madou.

In midfield, Nshimiyimana Yunusu, Seidu Dauda Yussif and Fidali Uwiyaremye were joined by Raouf Memel Dao, while Mamadou Traore and William Togui led the attacking line.

Both teams started positively, looking to take control of the encounter.

APR FC enjoyed periods of possession and created some promising opportunities, but Gasogi United also threatened on the counterattack.

In the sixth minute, Gasogi United missed an early opportunity when Ramadhan Micomyiza failed to make the most of a promising position inside the penalty area, allowing APR goalkeeper Adolphe Hakizimana to collect his effort.

APR FC responded with attempts from Djibril Ouattara and William Togui, but neither managed to find the breakthrough.

The military side suffered an early setback in the 23rd minute when Gilbert Byiringiro was forced off through injury, with Niyonzima Abidal coming on as his replacement.

Gasogi United continued to search for an opening and eventually broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute.

Ngono Guy Herve found space behind the APR FC defence before finishing to give his team a 1-0 advantage.

APR FC attempted to restore parity before the interval, but Gasogi United maintained their defensive organisation and went into the break with the lead.

Taleb made two changes at the start of the second half, introducing Hakim Kiwanuka and Abdoul Ishimwe for Mamadou Traore and Niyonzima Abidal.

The substitutions gave APR FC additional attacking impetus as they pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

Ouattara missed an opportunity in the 56th minute, while Togui also tested Gasogi goalkeeper Suleiman Suleiman with a header two minutes later.

The pressure eventually paid off in the 61st minute when William Togui provided the assist for Hakim Kiwanuka, who finished clinically to level the score at 1-1.

Gasogi United attempted to regain their advantage, but APR FC increasingly dominated possession and pushed forward in the closing stages.

Both sides made further substitutions as the match approached its conclusion.

APR FC introduced Jean Pierre Rubuguza for Memel Dao, while Gasogi United brought on Leon Muzigamyi and Didier Bizimana.

Despite five additional minutes, APR FC could not find a winner, and the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.

Ngono Guy Herve was named Man of the Match for his impressive performance and opening goal.

The result left APR FC seventh in the standings with seven points, level with Gasogi United, who occupied 12th place.
