Como delivered a stunning performance to defeat Manchester United 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 21, piling further pressure on manager Michael Carrick after a dominant display at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Nico Paz scored twice, while Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramón also found the net as Cesc Fàbregas’ side overwhelmed the English visitors in their Matchday Three encounter.

According to the match commentary, Joshua Zirkzee scored a late consolation for United in stoppage time, but it did little to disguise another disappointing performance from the visitors.

Como made an explosive start, taking the lead after just two minutes.

Lucas Da Cunha picked out Paz on the edge of the penalty area, and the Argentine attacking midfielder turned before curling a superb left-footed effort beyond goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

United attempted to respond, with Diogo Dalot missing an early opportunity before Harry Maguire headed Bryan Mbeumo’s delivery off target.

Como controlled much of the first half, using their movement and passing combinations to trouble the visitors’ defence.

Despite creating further opportunities, the hosts went into the break with a deserved 1-0 advantage.

The Italian side increased their intensity after the restart and doubled their lead in the 49th minute.

Paz turned provider, finding Douvikas, who finished clinically past Lammens after getting away from Matthijs de Ligt.

United’s problems deepened eight minutes later when Paz capitalised on a costly possession error by Carlos Baleba.

The Como playmaker advanced towards the penalty area before confidently slotting the ball past the advancing goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

Carrick introduced Amad Diallo and later Zirkzee in an attempt to revive United’s attack, but Como continued to threaten on the counterattack.

Their fourth goal arrived in the 76th minute when Kaiki delivered an inviting cross into the penalty area, allowing Ramón to rise and head past Lammens.

United eventually found the net in the 90th minute of normal time, with Amad supplying a cross that Zirkzee controlled before drilling home from close range.

The defeat represents another setback for United, who entered the contest seeking to recover from a 2-0 loss to Atlético Madrid in their previous Champions League outing.

Their recent domestic struggles, including a 1-1 draw against Leeds United, had already intensified scrutiny of Carrick’s leadership.

Como, meanwhile, continued to demonstrate their attacking potential under Fàbregas.

After opening their European campaign with a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig, they had suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Feyenoord before responding with a 3-1 domestic win over Fiorentina.
