Liverpool complete £123m signing of Bradley Barcola from PSG

Liverpool have completed the signing of France winger Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could rise to £123 million, making him the club’s second-most expensive signing after Alexander Isak.

Barcola, 23, has signed a five-year contract at Anfield, with Liverpool paying PSG an initial £106m and a further £17m potentially due in add-ons.

The winger becomes manager Andoni Iraola's third major signing of the summer after Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo, while defender Jeremy Jacquet, who was signed from Rennes in January, will also join the squad.

“It is a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool. I’m very happy,” Barcola told Liverpool’s official website.

“It took a long time but I'm really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool. I hope to achieve very big things, first of all winning the Premier League. It is one of my biggest dreams.”

Barcola was born on September 2, 2002, in Lyon, France, and began his football education at the Lyon academy before progressing into the first team.

He made his senior debut for Lyon in 2021 and went on to establish himself as one of the club's most promising attacking players.

During his time in France, he made 47 appearances for Lyon, scoring five goals before moving to PSG in 2023.

His breakthrough at Paris Saint-Germain came under a series of coaches as he developed into an important part of their attack.

Barcola helped PSG win Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, while also playing a role in their run to major European honours.

At PSG, Barcola was part of the team that won the 2023-24 Ligue 1 title, the 2023-24 Coupe de France, and the 2024 Trophée des Champions.

He subsequently added further domestic honours during his time in Paris.

His most significant achievement at club level came in European competition, as PSG won the UEFA Champions League, giving Barcola a major continental title before his move to England.

Internationally, Barcola progressed through France’s youth teams before making his senior debut in 2024.

He was selected for France’s squad at UEFA Euro 2024, gaining valuable experience at a major tournament.

The winger has since become part of France’s senior setup and is regarded as one of the country’s emerging attacking talents.

Barcola is primarily a left winger but can operate across the forward line, using his acceleration, dribbling ability and movement to attack defenders.

His arrival is expected to provide Liverpool with another option in wide areas following Mohamed Salah's departure to Trabzonspor on a free transfer.

Liverpool had initially faced a significant valuation gap with PSG, who were reported to have wanted around £145m for the France international.

However, the clubs eventually reached an agreement at £106m guaranteed, with the total potentially reaching £123m.

Barcola becomes Liverpool’s latest major investment as the club reshapes its attack and strengthens its squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
