LaLiga 2026-27 Fixtures: Early El Clásico headlines new season schedule

The countdown to another thrilling Spanish football season is officially underway after La Liga unveiled the full fixture list for the 2026/27 campaign, confirming a schedule packed with blockbuster clashes, fierce local derbies and another edition of the iconic El Clásico.

The new season will kick off on the weekend of August 14-16, 2026, with the final round of matches scheduled for May 30, 2027, bringing to an end a nine-month battle for the Spanish crown, European qualification and survival.

Defending champions Barcelona will launch their title defence at home against Athletic Club, looking to build on last season’s success under coach Hansi Flick.

Meanwhile, José Mourinho's Real Madrid begin their quest to reclaim the league title with a home fixture against Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabéu.

As always, the fixture release has generated enormous excitement, with supporters immediately circling the campaign's marquee encounters.

The first El Clásico of the season will take place on October 25, 2026, when Barcelona host Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou on Matchday 10.

The return fixture, which could once again prove decisive in the title race, is scheduled for May 9, 2027, at the Santiago Bernabéu on Matchday 35, just three rounds before the end of the season.

The rivalry in the Spanish capital will also take centre stage twice during the campaign.

Atlético Madrid welcome city rivals Real Madrid to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on September 20, 2026, before the reverse fixture is played at the Bernabéu on April 4, 2027.

Both Madrid derbies are expected to play a major role in shaping the championship race and the battle for Champions League qualification.

Beyond the headline fixtures, La Liga has confirmed that the Spanish Super Cup will be staged from February 2 to February 7, 2027, while the Copa del Rey final is set for April 24, 2027, creating another busy stretch in the domestic football calendar.

League officials also reiterated that while the complete 38-round fixture list has now been published, the exact dates and kick-off times for individual matches remain subject to change.

Final scheduling will continue to be announced in phases throughout the season, typically three to five weeks before each matchday, allowing flexibility for television broadcasting requirements, European competitions and domestic cup commitments.

The 2026/27 season promises another compelling chapter in Spanish football, with Barcelona aiming to retain their crown, Mourinho seeking to restore Real Madrid to the summit, Atlético Madrid determined to challenge the traditional powerhouses, and several emerging clubs eager to upset the established order.

With historic rivalries, elite talent and a demanding 38-match schedule awaiting, another captivating La Liga season is set to deliver drama from August to the final day in May.
