Champions League: Real Madrid stage stunning late comeback to edge Roma 4-3

Real Madrid produced a remarkable late comeback to defeat Roma 4-3 at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, scoring twice in the final seven minutes before Antonio Rüdiger struck a dramatic 90th-minute winner in the UEFA Champions League.

Roma appeared on course for a memorable victory after Donyell Malen scored twice in the second half, but Madrid’s late surge turned a pulsating encounter on its head.

Marten de Roon gave the Italian side the lead in the 20th minute, finishing a Matías Soulé pass with a powerful effort that took a deflection on its way past Thibaut Courtois.

Carlos Espí reduced the deficit in the 83rd minute, reacting quickest after Gollini failed to hold Endrick’s header from a corner.

Two minutes later, Endrick levelled the contest, rising unmarked to head home another Güler delivery and leave the home supporters stunned.

Madrid were not finished.

In the 90th minute, Güler delivered another dangerous corner, and Rüdiger rose to the occasion, finishing from close range to complete the turnaround and give the Spanish giants a 4-3 lead.

Roma attempted to respond during five minutes of added time but could not find another equaliser as Madrid held on for a dramatic victory.
