Young Africans SC were crowned champions of the 2025–26 NBC Mainland Premier League after a commanding 3-0 victory over JKT Tanzania on the final day of the season, sealing a historic fifth consecutive league title.
The Dar es Salaam giants entered the decisive fixture knowing that victory would guarantee the championship regardless of results elsewhere, and they delivered in convincing fashion to finish the campaign with 75 points from 30 matches.
Their triumph came despite relentless pressure from arch-rivals Simba SC, who also ended the season with a victory but finished two points behind on 73.
Yanga's latest success extends one of the most dominant periods in Tanzanian football history, with the club now completing five straight league-winning campaigns.
Their consistency throughout the season proved decisive as they once again held off Simba in one of Africa's fiercest football rivalries.
The champions produced an outstanding league campaign, winning 23 of their 30 matches, drawing six and suffering just one defeat.
They were equally impressive at both ends of the pitch, scoring a league-high 71 goals while conceding only nine—the best defensive record in the competition—to finish with a remarkable goal difference of +62.
Although Simba matched Yanga for determination throughout the title race, recording 22 wins, seven draws and only one defeat, they were ultimately left to settle for second place after accumulating 73 points.
Their impressive campaign was not enough to deny Yanga another championship celebration.
Azam FC finished third with 64 points to secure a place in continental competition after another consistent season.
Singida Black Stars claimed fourth place with 50 points, while TRA United completed the top five after collecting 43 points.
JKT Tanzania, who stood in Yanga's way on the final day, ended the season sixth with 42 points.
Pamba and Coastal Union both completed the campaign with 36 points, while Dodoma Jiji finished 10th on 35 points after a competitive mid-table battle.
At the opposite end of the standings, Tanzania Prisons survived relegation by finishing 13th with 32 points.
Mbeya City occupied 14th place with 30 points, while Mtibwa Sugar were relegated after managing only 27 points.
Kinondoni MC endured a difficult return to the top flight, finishing bottom with just nine points from 30 matches.
As of the end of the 2025–26 season, Young Africans SC have won a record 32 Tanzanian league championships, including titles earned under earlier national league formats.
Their latest triumph in 2025–26 secured a historic fifth consecutive championship after victories in 2021–22, 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25.
The club’s championship years are: 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1974, 1977, 1981, 1983, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
With a fifth successive championship now secured, the Tanzanian champions will shift their focus to the CAF Champions League.
