Adil Mohamed appointed Liberia head coach on three-year deal
Liberia national football team have officially appointed Moroccan-Belgian coach Adil Mohamed Erradi as their new head coach on a three-year contract, replacing interim boss Thomas Kojo.
The announcement was made by the Liberia Football Association, confirming that Erradi has taken full charge of the national team with immediate effect.
His appointment is part of a broader rebuilding project aimed at improving Liberia’s competitiveness in African football and preparing the squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Liberia currently sit outside Africa’s top tier in continental rankings, occupying a low position in the CAF standings and struggling to break into the higher competitive bracket.
In the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, Liberia are also positioned in the lower half of African nations, reflecting recent years of inconsistent performances and limited qualification success in major tournaments.
The federation hopes Erradi’s experience will help stabilize results and improve the team’s international standing.
The new coach will be responsible for rebuilding the squad, improving tactical structure, and developing a more consistent playing identity for the “Lone Stars.”
His immediate focus will be on strengthening the team ahead of upcoming international fixtures and AFCON qualification matches.
Erradi brings extensive coaching experience across Africa.
He previously worked in Ghana before joining Raja Casablanca as assistant coach in 2017 under Juan Carlos Garrido.
He later served as technical director at IR Tanger, further expanding his tactical and managerial expertise.
In 2019, Erradi took over at APR FC, where he enjoyed major success.
He led the club to three consecutive league titles from 2019–2022 and set a national record of 50 consecutive unbeaten matches, establishing one of the most dominant periods in Rwandan domestic football history.
He also guided APR FC to the second round of the CAF Champions League in 2022, marking a historic achievement for a Rwandan club in continental competition.
At the international level, Liberia will be looking to rebuild under his leadership after several years of transition and instability in the coaching department.
The federation believes his experience in both club and continental football makes him a strong candidate to guide the team through a rebuilding phase.
Erradi’s appointment is expected to focus on youth integration as Liberia aim to climb both the CAF rankings and FIFA world standings in the coming years.
