Aristophanes was a comic playwright or comedy-writer of ancient Athens and a poet of Old Attic Comedy he was also named father of comedy.

According to Aristophanes “Love is merely the name for the desire and pursuit of the whole.”

The Origin of Love” is based on a speech by Aristophanes in Plato’s Symposium. The speech described three different sexes: men attached to men, women attached to women, and men attached to women.

Aristophanes in his speech explains “the source of our desire to love each other.” He says, “Love is born into every human being; it calls back the halves of our original nature together; it tries to make one out of two and heal the wound of human nature.”

According to this Aristophanes theory, love is nature and it is something that can be found in some part of human being.
