Maranyundo GS will represent Rwanda at the International First Lego League 

Minister of State in charge of primary and Secondary education Gaspard Twagirayezu officiated yesterday March 04,2023 the First Lego League Championship, a robotic competition in which 350 students aged between 12 and 18 from 35 schools competed head to head by pitching STEM and Robotic programmes that solve real life Challenges.

Organised in partnership with Ministry of ICT, Rwanda Basic Education Board – REB and National Commission for UNESCO and other partners.

The top 3 winners are

  1. Maranyundo Girls
  2. Dove International Montessor
  3. Collège Christ Roi

Maranyundo GS will represent Rwanda at the International First Lego League opening which will take place in May 2023, in Morocco.

In his remarks, Minister Gaspard Twagirayezu congratulated the champions for their work done towards solving challenges using robots and code to exemplify the real world we live in and it is impressing how students demonstrated such remarkable creativity and ingenuity in tackling these tasks.

He continued saying that Our competence-based curriculum aims to develop our students’ ability to think creatively and solve problems. Today’s event has demonstrated that there is no better way to do this than through robotics and coding.

“This is an opportunity we must seize, and we owe it to you. As a result, we will be enhancing our science, elementary, and ICT courses in upper primary and secondary schools to include coding and robotics.” Twagirayezu added.
