In other words we want what we do not have, and at that times we can not have.
Love for Socrates is a superficial occurrence and only based on the things in life that seem to be pleasing to the eye.
Love debate is no longer important topic like in ancient times, now everyone is focusing on his life and what is next in this challenging world that have lost humanity.
Sometimes we ask ourselves and ask our parents, friends and others questions about nature of love.
Aristophanes was a comic playwright or comedy-writer of ancient Athens and a poet of Old Attic Comedy he was also named father of comedy.
According to Aristophanes “Love is merely the name for the desire and pursuit of the whole.”
The Origin of Love” is based on a speech by Aristophanes in Plato’s Symposium. The speech described three different sexes: men attached to men, women attached to women, and men attached to women.
Aristophanes in his speech explains “the source of our desire to love each other.” He says, “Love is born into every human being; it calls back the halves of our original nature together; it tries to make one out of two and heal the wound of human nature.”
According to this Aristophanes theory, love is nature and it is something that can be found in some part of human being.
For the Christians love is a command made by Jesus Christ, and every Christian have to obey it.
In John 15:12-13. It is written that Jesus commanded his disciples that “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
After saying this few days later Jesus died and it is written that he sacrificed his life for the sins of human being.
The Western tradition from the Greeks distinguishes four types of love and has a Greek word for all of them.
Eros: Erotic, Passionate Love
Eros is erotic or sexual or passionate love. It’s about felling sexually attractive than felling the personal characters, or nature. When married to person with Eros love it will cause great sorrow.
Philia: Love of Friends and Equals
This kind of love happens between lovers when they’ve been together for a long time and are not so hot, It is also called brotherly love.
People in this love have lower blood pressure, few doctor visits, shorter hospital visits, less pain and have more positive emotions.
This love can make partners more resilient when hard times come.
Storge : Love of Parents for Children
This love is parental love and it is the one mothers fell towards there children.
This kind is natural love and it exists forever without corrosion.
Agape: Love of Mankind
The love modeled on the love of the God for men and the love of man for God.
It’s the love that is given whether or not it’s returned. It’s the love without any self benefit.
In the Buddhist tradition it is the central foundation of loving kindness for all mankind. This kind of love is important in the process of forgiveness.
