Manchester United: Erik ten Hag to stay ahead of exit speculations

Manchester United are considering keeping Erik ten Hag as manager, a new report has revealed, despite claims to the contrary.

Before the FA Cup final, it was reported that United officials had already decided to part ways with Ten Hag regardless of the result at Wembley.

The Red Devils went on to beat Manchester City and lift the final piece of silverware available this season.

Since then, however, several reports have insisted a decision on Ten Hag will only be made in an upcoming season review.

Now, the Manchester Evening News state United have not yet ruled out keeping Ten Hag and have even told prospective replacements that there may not be a vacancy at Old Trafford this summer.

Ten Hag remains under contract for another year and does have the option for a further 12 months included in his current deal.

Talks have been held with the representatives of several potential replacements.

Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, who are both out of work, are reported to be keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna was also a slated target but The Athletic have since revealed he is set to sign a new long-term deal with the recently promoted side.

Ten Hag’s future will be decided in the impending season review, which will reflect on every detail of United, rather than focus solely on the team’s performance.

It is reported that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe believes the club’s structure has been more problematic than Ten Hag.

CEO Omar Berrada has been hired alongside technical director Jason Wilcox, while the Red Devils continue to try and poach Dan Ashworth from Newcastle United to become their new sporting director.
