The Rwandan National Football Team known as Amavubi, grabbed a 2-1 win over the Super Eagles of Nigeria but failed to qualify for the 2025 Morocco African Cup Of Nations.
Coach Torsten Frank Spittler side did a good job by collecting all three points which was important for them but unfortunately, all their hope was ditched when second place Benin played all out to a goalless draw with Libya.
Both Rwanda and Benin finished the group with 8 points in the AFCON qualifiers, but the head-to-head record sealed their rivals Benin through.
The team put up a good fight to come from behind and win Nigeria’s Super Eagles 2-1 in the final group match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Nigeria took the lead in the 59th minute through a fine solo goal from Samuel Chukwueze, but Amavubi fought back and responded through Jimmy Mutsinzi and Innocent Nshuti.
Both players scored in the 72nd and 75th minute respectively to give Amavubi their first-ever victory against the Super Eagles, having failed to secure a win in the previous six meetings across all competitions.
