Innocent Nshuti light up in Rwanda’s first AFCON Qualifiers win

United States-based Rwanda forward, Innocent Nshuti was on target for Amavubi in their narrow 2-1 win over Benin on Tuesday in the AFCON Qualifiers.

The 26-year-old scored his side’s first goal in the 70th minute of the match to level the score after Benin took the lead in the 43rd minute at the Amahoro Stadium.

Nshuti had a good game and was outstanding in attack for coach Torsten Frank Spittler’s side which got their first win in their fourth group game.

The One Knoxville forward goal was his sixth for Rwanda in 21 appearances since making his debut in 2017.

Nshuti, who enjoyed 90 minutes of action against Benin, has been one of the regular feature players in coach Torsten Spittler’s squad.

He scored his first goal in the ongoing AFCON 2025 qualifiers, netting the equalizer in Rwanda’s 1-1 draw against Libya, before scoring his second against Benin on Tuesday.

Rwanda sit third in the group with five points, while Benin is second with 6 points, a point behind leaders Nigeria, who have played fewer games in the group.
