Rwanda U-20 eliminated From CECAFA

Amavubi Under-20 have been knocked out of the CECAFA Under-20 Cup following their 3-0 defeat to host Tanzania Under-20 in their third group game on Sunday.

Coach Eric Nshimiyimana’s boys were hoping to secure a win but found it difficult against host Tanzania which had won their last two matches in the tournament.

Rwanda U20 began their campaign with a 1-0 loss to Sudan, followed by a 0-0 draw to Kenya U20 in the CECAFA U20 Championship.

With the loss on Sunday, the Amavubi Junior team has been shown the exit door despite having their last game to play.

The team failed to progress to the next stage of the competition having picked just one point from three matches played so far.

Rwanda, currently sitting fourth in the standings with one point, while Tanzania leads Group A standings in the CECAFA Under-20 Qualifiers with 9 points, followed by second place Kenya with 7 points from three games.
