Rayon Sports Women’s Football Club has been crowned champions of the 2024 Women’s Super Cup.
The team defeated AS Kigali Women Club 5-2 on Thursday, September 26, at the Kigali Pele Stadium to lift the trophy.
The encounter was tough between both teams which displayed a good performance throughout the entire 90 minutes.
The seven goals scored by both teams saw Rayon Sports Women scoring five after coming from a goal down to emerge winners of the Super Cup.
The game was the fifth meeting between both sides in 2024 following two wins each from their last four meetings.
However, things were not the same this time around as the Rayon Sports Women team proved their worth in the fifth meeting by showing they were a better side than AS Kigali during the encounter.
It was a difficult task for AS Kigali in the Super Cup having lost the 2023/24 league title to the Blues.
AS Kigali did all they could during the match but Rayon Sports stood their ground and made the match unpleasant for one of their toughest opponents in the Rwandan Women’s League in AS Kigali.
