Mercato: Neymar is one of five PSG players told to leave in meetings with Enrique

Neymar has reportedly been told that he can leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The Brazilian is one of five players who have been informed that they are not needed, during meetings with manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos.

It comes following reports earlier this week that the 31-year-old had told the club’s management of his own desire to leave the club.

French publication RMC Sport now claim that Neymar, Marco Verratti, Hugo Ekitike, Juan Bernat and Renato Sanches were told they are ‘not part of PSG’s project and should find a solution elsewhere’.

Neymar and Verratti have been absent from training for the last two days and along with Kylian Mbappe, were also not invited to the club’s team photo day, ahead of receiving the news from Enrique and Campos.

Bernat, Ekitike, Sanches were also not part of the team photo day though a second round of official photos is planned for the end of the transfer window, should any of those players end up staying at the club.

The Brazil international had grown increasingly unhappy at the French giants, with reports suggesting he was determined to seal a return to Barcelona this summer.

Back in May, angry PSG fans gathered outside his Paris home to demand that he leave, prompting the club to release a statement condemning the actions of their supporters.

The incident is said to have influenced Neymar’s decision to push for a move away from the club, with the forward reportedly feeling that he is ‘exposed’ in Paris in a way that he never had been during his time at Barcelona.

His time at PSG has been plagued by injuries, and though he has won 13 domestic trophies with the club, he has failed to live up to his £200m price tag – in big part due to the club’s failure to win the Champions League.

Barcelona would find it tough to sign Neymar due to their financial issues, so moves to Saudi Arabia or the MLS would appear to be a more likely proposition.

His exit would follow that of Lionel Messi, who joined Inter Miami this summer.

Meanwhile, Mbappe’s future remains unclear as he looks for a move to Real Madrid next year, and PSG are determined he will sign a new deal if he doesn’t depart to avoid losing him on a free at the end of the season.

Italian international Verratti would be another big-name exit this summer, and he has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Ekitike only joined the club permanently this summer after joining PSG on a one-year loan with an option to buy last year.

Portugal international Sanches only joined the club from Lille one year ago, while Bernat has been with the club for five years.
