The Assistant District Governor (District 9150), Dr. Jean d’Amour MANIRERE, Lecturer in University of Rwanda chartered One new club, the Rotary Club Nyamagabe at the M&N Motel on January 21, 2023.
With the addition of the one more club, Rwanda now has a total of Eleven Rotary’s.
Dr. Jean d’Amour Said that the District 9150 is made up of 100 clubs from ten African countries.
NKUNDIMANA Justin is the engaged President of Rotary Club Nyamagabe.
“Now, we are very happy, our rotary club has been chartered, we will move forward and fulfill the expectations of our Nyamagabe communities to the fullest” He said
Habimana Thadée,Vice/ Mayor in charge of Economic affairs, who was the representative of Nyamagabe District highlighted the importance of this aspect of Rotary club not only in Nyamagabe but also whole country and promise cooperation and collaboration with Rotary charter members.
Kigali Virunga Rotary club President Prof. Geoffrey Rugege further stressed the importance of expanding Rotary’s already existing relationship with Rwanda as he was celebrating his fifty Second (52) anniversary joined International Rotary.
“Through increased membership drives and providing more community-based services to meet the peculiar needs within their immediate environment,” he said.
During the event, more Rotarians pledged to donate towards the cause and they are more engaged in planning and implementing the project that fulfill the expectations of communities

“I am happy to be charter member of Rotary Club Nyamagabe, I will do my best to provide support together with my Rotarians, I will make projects that respond to the needs of our communities as it is my Specialization domain” Uwizeyimana Fortune said.
“I am extremely happy to be charter member of Rotary club Nyamagabe, it is a great pleasure to me and my colleagues Rotarians, I wish to well accomplish my duties such as Conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education” Ruzindana added
Rotary International focuses on Peacebuilding and Conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education, and literacy, Economic and Community development, and protecting the environment.

Rwanda’s Rotary Club (RC) was founded in 1966: Rotary Club Butare, Rotary Club Musanze- Burera, Rotary Club Bugoyi, Rotary Club Kigali –Gasabo, Rotary Club Kigali Mont Jali, Rotary Club Kigali-Virunga, Rotary Club Kigali Seniors, Rotary Club Kigali Karisimbi, Rotary Club Lakes na Rotary Club Kibungo, are the ten Rotary Clubs currently operating across the country.
Rotary International, which brings together international business and other professional leaders to perform humanitarian services around the world, is really taken as the umbrella organization for the Rwandan community movement.
Rotary is made up of people who are passionate about improving the lives and livelihoods of the poor and underprivileged in society.
On 23 February 1905, Paul P. Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram E. Shorey gathered in Loehr’s office for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting.
