Theo Walcott has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.

The forward’s career spanned 18 years and he will most be remembered for his time at Arsenal as well as winning 47 caps for England.

Walcott has admitted the decision is “very scary” but he’s relishing the next phase of his life.

Theo Walcott has retired from football after leaving Southampton at the end of the previous season.

After scoring over 100 goals for Arsenal and earning 47 caps for England, Walcott was rumored to be considering moves to Bournemouth and Reading, who compete in League One, earlier this summer.

However, the 34-year-old has officially announced his retirement through a post on social media.

Throughout his career, he played a total of 563 games for various clubs and achieved success by winning three FA Cups and two Community Shields.

Walcott, who scored a remarkable 129 goals in all competitions, primarily played for Arsenal in north London.

He began his journey at the age of 16 after signing with the club in January 2006, initially for £5m which later rose to £12m.

He was sensationally named by Sven Goran Eriksson in England’s World Cup squad that summer despite not featuring for the Gunners in the second half of the 2005/06 campaign.

Walcott became the Three Lions’ youngest player at the age of 17 years and 75 days when he appeared in a friendly win over Hungary in May 2006.
