The Brazilian volleyball tactician, Paulo De Tarso Milagres, arrived in Kigali last night after he was again appointed as the coach of the National Volleyball Teams in different categories.

De Tarso was hired after the position of National Volleyball Team Coach was put on the market for the past few months.

The Brazilian arrived in Kigali on Tuesday night, the 4th of July, where he will seal a two-year contract to coach national teams in different categories.

After arriving in Kanombe, he said that he considers Rwanda as his home and the goals of his return include helping it to play the Olympic Games.

He said, “I think we have goals that we want to achieve, when I talk about us, I mean Rwanda as a country and myself because we are competing to get the best place in the Volleyball list and I am ready to start each one. I consider Rwanda as home, there is not much to say, I am happy and proud to be back.”

He continued, “Now we have enough time to do something alive, now we are going to see how we can get a ticket to the Olympic Games even though it is difficult now, but in the next games, my dream is to bring Rwanda to the next Olympic Games.”

The General Secretary of the FRVB, Mucyo Philbert, said that they are happy to have Paulo De Tarso as a coach again because he knows the level of Volleyball in Rwanda well and gives the confidence to bring it back to a good level.

He said, “He is a coach we believe in and we see that we have to do something to bring Rwanda Volleyball to a place. He is the most experienced coach in this country, and he is the one who prepared the latest volleyball team at the highest level.”

De Tarso was last in Rwanda in 2021 where he coached the national men’s and women’s teams in the Africa Cup of Nations held in Kigali even though the women were expelled from the tournament after playing for players from Brazil which is not qualified

The first time he coached in Rwanda, it was between 2010 and 2011 where he helped the National Under-20 Men’s Team to be fourth in the African Volleyball Championship.
