Over 375 Karatekas trainers across the country participated in the Shotokan Karate Monthly training in this Year.
Organized by ISKF Rwanda, this training aimed to prepare the future of Shotokan Karate, starting from Youth, where they did intensive trainings within the Six Months.
Starting in June 2024, December 22 marks the end of this year’s training on the session held at Cercle Sportif de Kigali.
For the past Six Months, the Karatekas trainers were trained on different techniques of Shotokan Karate.
Told the Participants, Nduwamungu Jean Vianney, the Shotokan Karate International instructor, said that the reason for it was to improve the technical level of Shotokan Karate, which would be the same for all people and at the International level.
“The training is from the black belts to dans. It is an honor for us to have such numbers. They had been with us for the Monthly training from June”. He added
Nduwamungu, who is a Fourth-Dan holder, is optimistic that the trainings will help to formalize the Karate Shotokan techniques in Rwanda, which he sadly says that some Karate clubs in Rwanda have been practicing a bit differently from the original one.
“When you look at the Karate Shotokan techniques being practiced in local clubs, it seems to have lost its identity and it is being instructed differently. With various Karatekas trainers across the country participated to the trainings, I hope that they will help us to formalize the techniques so we can adopt the universal one”, he said.
This trainings has been completed with 12 Karatekas trainers received International qualifications after passing the tests.
