Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson are among the star names being targeted by the Saudi Pro League this summer, according to a report.
Several household names already play in Saudi Arabia, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Neymar, and the Pro League are stepping up their efforts to bring in further quality, with ten marquee signings planned.
The Telegraph report that there is ‘huge interest’ in Fernandes, though Saudi dealmakers accept that it will be hard to make such a move happen.
They are also discussing an ‘ambitious’ deal for Liverpool’s Alisson, while his Brazil colleague, Manchester City’s Ederson, is also a target.
A more likely signing for the Pro League is Casemiro, whose form has alarmingly dipped for United this season. Though the Red Devils are open to selling the 32-year-old, they will not necessarily force him to leave.
Casemiro joined United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 for an initial £60m fee plus a further £10m in add-ons. Despite a promising first season at Old Trafford, he has failed to live up to his lofty standards this term and has most recently had to fill in as a makeshift centre-back amid the club’s injury crisis.
As previously reported by 90min, Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah are the top targets for the Pro League. Their respective deals at Man City and Liverpool both expire in 2025 and if they do not commit their futures to their current clubs, this would be the last chance for them to recoup a transfer fee.
Another Liverpool player on the Saudis’ radar is Thiago Alcantara, who is out of contract at the end of this season. The Spaniard has again battled with various injuries this season and has only played five minutes of senior football.
