Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has revealed the key differences between Arne Slot and former manager Jurgen Klopp, stating that there is more “structure” under the new boss.
The Reds appointed Slot as Klopp’s replacement in the summer, following the legendary German manager’s decision to step down after a hugely successful nine-year spell in charge at Anfield.
And while Klopp’s shoes were certainly big ones to fill – he won eight trophies, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League during his time at the club – Slot has seriously impressed in his first few months in charge.
Liverpool have gone to the top of the Premier League in recent days, seemingly not missing a beat.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Reds’ second UEFA Champions League game under their new boss, Mac Allister was asked about the differences between his new manager and Klopp.
“I think between Arne and Jurgen the principles are the same so as I said, I don’t think there is a huge difference,” the 2022 World Cup winner explained.
“I just think that now we have more of a structure and some patterns that we know and are trying to improve, so that is the main difference but apart from that there is not much to add.”
“You can see the way he speaks, from the first day we understood what he wants from us, and I think that’s the main thing in a coach: try to get the idea he has in his players and I think we are getting there, but there is still room for improvement.”
