Ahead of Rwanda’s World Cup qualifier match against Nigeria on Friday, the Amavubi national team captain, Bizimana Djihad, has reassured the media that there is nothing to fear.
During the pre-match press conference on Thursday, Djihad appeared confident in the team’s preparation.
“There’s nothing to worry about,” Djihad asserted. “We have already played the Super Eagles twice, and I think the majority of them are here.”
While yielding on Nigeria’s standing as a giant team with celebrated players, Djihad emphasized that Amavubi team’s focus is solely on their own training. “We respect them as a big team with big players, but as players we are focusing on ourselves and what we are doing during training,” he added.
Group three, which includes Rwanda, is led by Benin with 8 points, followed by Rwanda and South Africa with 7 points, Lesotho with 5 points, while Nigeria and Zimbabwe have 3 points.
However, Benin and Zimbabwe have played 5 matches while the others played 4.
With the game lined up for Friday, Djihad recognized the task on their plate but was upbeat about their chances, forecasting a tough but winnable encounter.
