Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has stated that his team is ready to deliver as they prepare to take on Rwanda on Friday March 21, 2025 at 6pm Kigali time.
Speaking to the media during the pre-match conference on Thursday, Chelle revealed that the team is in high morale and is determined to achieve the needed results.
“We have a good team, and we are going to have our final training at the Amahoro Stadium. Hopefully, we can deliver the necessary results,” Chelle said.
The coach also acknowledged the strength of the Rwandan team, referring to their new coach and the importance of the match to both nations.
Nigerian skipper William Troost-Ekong also had his say, stating the team is aware of the game’s significance. “We are here for one job, and we know how important this game is to us. We need to win, we want to win.”
Troost-Ekong also recognized the strength of Rwanda, based on their previous encounters with the team.
“Rwanda has a good team, we’ve played them a few times, so we respect their level. I’m happy to hear that their team can handle us, but I have full confidence in my team based on the way the boys have trained,” he said.
He also pointed out Nigeria’s attacking strength and how difficult away games are in Africa. “We have one of the world’s best attacking teams, and we know every African team is difficult to play away from home,” Troost-Ekong continued.
The match promises to be a tough one with the two teams gunning for a crucial victory.
Group three, which includes Rwanda, is led by Benin with 8 points, followed by Rwanda and South Africa with 7 points, Lesotho with 5 points, while Nigeria and Zimbabwe have 3 points.
However, Benin and Zimbabwe have played 5 matches while the others have played 4.
