CECAFA Championship U-20: Disappointing start for Amavubi

Amavubi Under-20 endured a disappointing start in the ongoing CECAFA Championship U20 in Tanzania on Tuesday.

Rwanda U20 suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sundan Under-20 in their opening Group A match at the Azam stadium.

A goal from Minder Abdo Khimes Tiya in the 6th minute of the match gives the Sudanese all three points.

Coach Eric Nshimiyimana’s side had a good game though find it difficult to capitalize on their scoring chances after conceding early in the match.

The defeat was a disappointing for the Amavubi U20 squad that has been working so hard in preparing for the competition.

Amavubi junior team will now turn their attention to Kenya which will be their next group game on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the KMC Stadium.

The Rising Stars won their first group game against host Tanzania Under-20 with a hard-fought 2-1.

Rwanda sits fourth in Group A and will have to do their best to get a win in its next fixture against second-place Kenya which has points already in its bag.
