Bayern Munich are set to dismiss manager Julian Nagelsmann, 90min can confirm.

The 35-year-old, who joined Bayern in 2021, has led the Munich outfit to the Champions League quarter-finals but has failed to inspire significant confidence domestically, with the club currently second in the Bundesliga heading into this international break.

Sources have confirmed to 90min that Nagelsmann’s relationship with those in charge at Bayern has soured in recent weeks and the decision has been made to part ways with the young manager before the return of club football.

Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern sporting director, is understood to have played a significant role in deciding Nagelsmann’s fate.

Bayern are keen to find a high-level replacement as soon as possible and 90min understands that contact has been made with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who has been out of work since departing Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

A verbal agreement has been struck with Tuchel and Munich officials are keen to have the new boss in place before club football returns, with Bayern set to face Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund – Tuchel’s former employers – on April 1 in what looks set to be an enormous game for both clubs.

Bayern also face Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, with the first leg coming on April 11.

Standards are high at Bayern and questions have been regularly asked about Nagelsmann’s side, who are comfortably the leading scorers in the Bundesliga and even boast the division’s best defensive record at this point.

Disappointing results, including the defeat against Bayer Leverkusen and the hectic 5-3 victory over a struggling Augsburg side have left fans frustrated at times but there is now set to be a change in the dugout at the Allianz Arena.
