Bayern Munich linked with shock Bruno Fernandes transfer swoop

Bayern Munich have been tipped to launch a spectacular move for Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, with a report claiming the Portugal international’s teammates fear he could be on the move this summer.

Fernandes’ future has been the subject of intense speculation ever since it was reported that United are prepared to listen to offers for every member of the squad aside from Rasmus Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

The 29-year-old then fuelled the fire by publicly admitting he could consider his future at the club this summer, although manager Erik ten Hag quickly insisted Fernandes’ comments had been taken out of context and a summer sale was off the table.

Now, however, the uncertainty surrounding Fernandes’ future has resurfaced as The Independent claim he is being lined up by Bayern for a shocking summer switch to the Bundesliga.

Bayern are said to believe that Fernandes could be attainable this summer as he does not fit the profile of United‘s young, rebuilding squad.

The Manchester Evening News add that some inside the Old Trafford dressing room have doubts that Fernandes will still be at the club next season, with the report claiming he would be open to a move away at this stage in his career.

It is stressed, however, that Fernandes is not actively seeking a move away from United and would be more than happy to stay.

Ten Hag did his best to try and put an end to the speculation when asked about Fernandes’ future during Tuesday’s press conference.

“It’s the same question as last week. So I answered. The same answer,” Ten Hag said.

“Now and in all the years he was [at United], he was a tremendously important player for Man United and creating the most chances across the Premier League. So many assists, so many goals. It’s clear he’s a very important player for us.”
