APR shares spoil with Rayon Sports, But maintain two-Point lead atop

APR’s hopes of extending their lead at the summit of the Rwanda Premier League table were shattered as they were forced to a disappointing goalless stalemate by title rivals Rayon Sports at Amahoro Stadium on Sunday.

The Army team were desperate to claim all three points but were thwarted by Rayon Sports, who also in the title race.

Both teams were at their best, both in defense and in attack, but they were unable to break through each other’s defenses in a match that had several scoring chances.

It was the second time this season in which APR and Rayon Sports have had a goalless draw after previously clashing in the first leg of the Rwanda Premier League, which was also goalless.

APR and Rayon Sports have faced each other 21 times since 2016 to date, and APR now leads the head-to-head encounters with 12 wins. Rayon Sports have won four times, while five of the games have ended in a draw.

The Matchday 20 Rwanda Premier League draw has the two teams collecting a point each, with the title still very much on.

APR remains at the top of the table with 43 points, while Rayon Sports is second with 41 points.

As the title race continues , the two teams will be eager to win their next matches in order to remain in the league for the championship.
