The Rwandan Football National Team known asa Amavubi, has returned home after they were beaten 3-0 by Benin on Friday in their third AFCON qualifiers match in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

Coach Spittler and the entire team arrived in Kigali on Sunday and will now go straight to camp and continue their preparation for the second leg on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Amavubi will be hoping to end their winless run against Benin having lost to the West African nation in their last two meetings.

The German manager is yet to win Benin and will be meeting them for the third time since taking charge of Rwanda in November 2023.

Their first meeting was in June when Gernot Rohr’s side beat Amavubi 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Coach Spittler then lost to Benin 3-0 for the second time and now has a chance to avenge the previous defeat, something Rwandans would love to see.

Both Rwanda and Benin have played 8 Games since 2010. Among them, Rwanda won 1 game (Total Goals 3, PPG 0.4), Benin won 5 (Total Goals 14, PPG 1., and drew 2.

Amavubi sits third in Group D with two points, while Benin sits in second position with 6 points, a point behind leaders Nigeria who beat Libya 1-0 on Friday to move 7 points.
