“Amavubi call-up came as a Surprise,” Says Marvin Kury

Swiss-born Rwandan forward Johan Marvin Kury says he is surprised by the called up handle to him by Amavubi coach Frank Spittler for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin in this month’s.

Kury, who plays for Yverdon Sports FC in the Swiss top tier league is among the 38 players named for the double headed encounter.

Speaking in an interview on Thursday with Sports Journalist at the Amahoro Stadium training pitch, Kury says he was shock and surprised by the call up to the Amavubi team, though he wasn’t thinking about it.

“I’m delighted to be part of Amavubi squad especially training with others which is something good and it’s a big step for me in my career.

“ It’s good representing my country and am looking forward to prove my worth and shows what I can do best,” he added.

The youngster was born in the Swiss City of La Chaix de Fonds to a Rwandan mother and a Swiss father.

He’s one of the three new players that has been called up for the first time to the Amavubi squad.

Marvin had been training with Amavubi squad and will be hoping to mark his debut.

Rwanda will play Benin on October 11 at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire in the first leg and October 15 in the second leg in Kigali at the Amahoro Stadium.
