The senior men’s national team of Rwanda, Amavubi held their first training session in Ivory Coast ahead of their AFCON Qualifiers match with Benin.

Coach Torsten Frank Spittler and his boys arrived in Ivory Coast on Monday, October 7 and have started to put in work already for Friday’s encounter at the Stade Félix Houphouët.

Rwanda kicked off their 2025 AFCON campaign with a draw in their first two games against Libya and Nigeria in Group D and will now be hoping to get their first three points.

Spittler and his team lost to Benin 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers encounter held at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny in Côte d’Ivoire in June of this year, and will be aiming to get revenge.

Rwanda has been impressive in their previous matches as coach Spittler continues to build a team that has so far improved under his guidance showcasing strong communication and commitment in training and games.

Both Benin and Rwanda have played 7 Games since 2010. Among them, Benin won 4 games (Total Goals 11, PPG 1.6), Rwanda won 1 (Total Goals 3, PPG 0.4), and drew 2.

Rwanda sits in third position in Group D with two points, having recorded two draws, while Benin sits in second place with three points from two games.
