On the evening of Thursday, July 20, 2023, the Rwanda Defense Team announced through its social media that its leadership held discussions with the Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwandan Defense Forces.
It is a visit that happened a few hours after the French duo arrived on the territory of Rwanda, where they arrived on Thursday morning.
Thierry Froger and Khuda Karim will start work at APR FC where they will be expected to repeat the failures of their predecessors, leading the team to the group stage of CAF Champions League.
APR FC is a team that has spent years aiming to surpass the current level in Rwanda, becoming a competitive team in Africa.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Rwandan Armed Forces, Lt Gen Mubarakh Muganga, while on the board of APR FC, urges that “the team is going to do everything possible to perform better in international level and it is possible.”
One of the changes that were made was to change the management because he was starting to have many responsibilities that made him not follow the team as it matters and the players he had and he cared about foreigners because in the 11 years he has been using local based players they not perform better on the International scene.
Another thing he did was to change the coaches and include new ones led by the French, Thierry Froger, 60, and Khuda Karim, 51, who will work together to achieve these goals.
These coaches should start work immediately and they found that APR FC have already signed foreign players including Pavelh Ndzila, Taddeo Lwanga, Nshimirimana Ismaël ‘Pitchou’, Apam Assongwe Bemol, Victor Mbaoma, Banga Salomon Bindjeme, Sharafeldin Shaiboub Ali and Ndikumana Dany.
In addition to those who have already extended their contracts, Niyomugabo Claude, Mugisha Gilbert and Nsengiyumva Ilshad have reached the end of their contracts.
APR FC is preparing to kick the next season with a match against Rayon Sports in the Super Cup scheduled for August 12, 2023 before starting the Championship on August 18 with the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
